well a bit about me.
I'm a class A auto mechanic here in Ontario Canada

Apprentice millwright here in Ontario Canada

and a class C auto mechanic in Quebec.

and custom race car builder and tunner.

so if there is something I know how to do is to work with tools and mod stuff.

so since my old Bam B1 stop working this week well I been wanting to have poil27 re build it to its prime.

but now I been thinking of maybe modding it in a CO2 gun. to go do some FT with if I build my own I wont need to go buy one I could use mine and there is nothing more rewarding and using something you made your self.

since I'm a Mechanic I know nothing about the technical thing in air guns. so i have questions for the pros.

how much presure and volume does a stock 490fps .177 peller gun produce to fire the pellet I have 2 plan in my head to make a pellet gun but I need to know if I can make the power with the parts I want to use.

and is there any rules in FT competion that I need to know before my build?
thanks for your help.

Turning a springer into a CO2 gun. Now that is an ambitious project. Here some info to get started, CO2 runs around 850psi at room temperature but goes up and down with temp. Volume wise a typical gun gets 40 to 60 shots with the standard 12 gram cartridge.

Ya I know but I have done some crazzy thing in my life and just in the pass years.

I have drop a 3.0L V6 in a 1988 ford escort gt originaly came out with a 1.9L 4 cylinder.

took a 1987 ford tempo and build it turbo that has 325hp running 22psi to 25psi of boost and run's in the 12sec
on the 1/4 mile so I like project that will keep me up at night LOL .

thanks for the info so has for volume I'm ok then and presure still not sure on that one, but more digging
and I will get it.

Rule #1 for this build I will use the KISS system we all know it Keep it simple stupid.

and to be honnest turning a springer into a co2 won't be all that hard since the barrel is there
and most parts are there. and this will be a winter long project. if this works good I may build a few more
if it don't well I will buy a reddy made gun and go FT shooting with you guys only difference will be a smaller smile.

While modifying a spring gun to operate on CO2 or HPA is nothing new, it is a very ambitious undertaking.
The whole adaptation of the reservoir and valving can become very complex, and will require custom machining of a good many parts, all needing to be custom fitted.
So unless you have the ability and resources to do your own machining, it will be a very costly venture as well.

Far better to start with a gun that has a vast array of aftermarket parts readily available for you to modify the gun with, such as the Crosman or QB guns.

Thanks man, for info, all info is good.
and I know it will be a pita to build but I'm up for it.
and I know after it's all done it will cost me over 300$
and I could but a cheap gun like the IZH 60 for 100$ and be more accurante then
what I'm building, but The thing with me is I like projects like this.

I have a subzero cooled computer and a water cool computer. and that projects was not done in a day.
so al lthe help I can get I will take good or bad comments I will take too, most time a bad comment will make you
look at your project and say the guy is right or wrong but it give you a different eye on the parts.

so for this I will be taking many many many pics for yuo all to so yuo can help me with the build so I know i'm not alone
in this build I got all of you :)

Well I can tell you this if I were to name you gun it would be the Terminator looks like you took parts off the Terminator skeleton to make your gun I love it.
I will PM you my address so you can mail it to me. LOL

Well a little update.

I named the Gun, its called MADMAX Yes MadMax like the movie since it will look like a post apocaliptic modded gun.

I have all the plan set out in my head Even my vavle I will use a eletronic vavle if I can if I can I will use just a normal mechanical vavle only problem with the electric vavle is I will need a 9volt battery to run it. and that can gine me problems in the long run. maybe a regargable battery would be better for my setup.
well the gun will be set up first for CO2 but will be able to run on HPA too.

Well more of a update still doing the ruff stuff, messing twice and cutting once.
I needed to take part of the body off to get to my blow hole.
I will drill and tap and instal a vavle there so It will closer to the pellet and will need less air to opperate
if ever vavle dont fit I can just instal a longer pipe and relocate the vavle else where in the gun body.

Now I'm debating if I should drill tap it my self or send it out to a machine shop to do it?
this is one of the most important part of the gun I mess up here and it will make things harder down the line
and if you look closely the blow hole is at a angle like most other airgun, and my vavle need to be perfectly straight!
so I think on monday I will drop it off at a machine shop to have done.

this is the only machining I will need to sublet all the rest from selding to fitting will be done by me.

so here are a few pics to show you where I'm at.
hope you like pic quality.

When I work on a project my head is always working in new ways and best ways for the build,

since the driling and tapping for the pipe for the vavle is at a angle and will be a PITA to make it perfect
I got a different way of doing it.

I will grind all parts perfect and weld the vavle connection pipe in I'm a very good welder and got and new
gas mig so the welding would save me some cash and lots of time too.

and there is no reason the welded part would not work even better would be even more solid in the long run
and a driled tap connection.

tell me what you guys think, if this sounds good on Monday I'm going to do it or even Sunday evening after the
FT shootout.

if this works great I will get my self a newer airgun and modded it the same this one I got to keep
since it was a gift from my Dad.
