Depends on how fancy you want to get. I've seen many a scope with white tape of some sort taped around the front AO, then sharpie or ink marks with the distances.

Others will tape on a strip of paper, mark their distances on that, then use that as a template to create the marks on a computer.

You then print that off, tape it back on the front AO, then cover it up with clear tape, I like to use packing tape to cover it up (makes it water resistant)

The nice thing about generating the digital range marks is that if that original range indicator becomes ruined (or you want to alter it as you learn to range find better/differently) you have something to work off of.

I learned to always create a 'backup' of my range markings, even if it's just a simple paper copy (put another piece of paper over the front/side AO) because you can (and I have) spent many hours marking those ranges, if that paper gets wet/smudged/ripped, it's a real pain in the butt to have to do it all over again.

From what I heard from the pros. is that you use a piece of masking tape in the beginning for searching and marking down your range. Then they take it to the computer and make it out on regular paper, and then put clear tape over that. I've been doing it for tha last 6 months, and I'm not even close to the end.

Hope it takes you a lot less time

Good luck

Biagio
