So I hipac's the 2240 - they were waiting for me when I got home. . Hear a leak right away. Chewed the stock seal real good. Thought ok, HPA is still in with the hipac'd 2250. Well the stock seal went on it as well. 2 seals in less than an hour!! I know your supposed to change em. One is done and firing as good as ever. Next one Tuesday.

Lesson learned - when you get new seals with a HPA product, bloody well use em!

Were you pressurizing the hipac to over 2000psi ?
My stock seal is still doing fine but i only fill to 2000. In my other 2240 I changed to the hipac seal because I regularly fill to 2500.

Well thats just it, the leaking started around 1400 psi on the 2240. When i took the valve out it was looking ratty. It didn't survive one fill.

The 2250 seal blew out but i really did expect it to. I wanted to see how long the stock seal would hold. I will change her out tonight and be back in business soon enough.

The valve stem seal won't hold up at 1800psi + pressures for long either. It can be easily replaced with a disco valve stem that fixes the problem. Regards, Tom

Tom the original seals and valvestem won't stand any psi that I use. I change them before I do anything else, but the Hipac is a real cheap pcp for sure. Hey Tom are you still playing around with your Sam Yang Big Bore?

George?
What seal are you talkin' about on the 2240? The one at the piercing stem? Hi-Pac provides one. Or is it the valve stem and its seat? It wouldn't be the big o-ring in the valve that keeps it sealed?

Newbie askin' questions!

THANKS!

Do you mean the seal on the stem? I really haven't look at that to close yet. Is it easy to remove and add the delrin one? I can machine whatever i need.

Stock valve stem has a soft seal...it gets ripped up by the pressure.

Easiest to just machine a totally new stem...you don't need the piercing pin with the hipac.

Piece of drill rod...bit of Delrin (nylatron works good too)...for a start, just duplicate the stock piece sans piercing pin...no brass needed.

It's a 5-10 minute job at most. :)

Can reduce the od and smooth/blend the shape if desired.

Okie dokie! So is the delrin held by a little step or just pressed on hydraulically?

I use a blind hole in the delrin...a few thou smaller than the drill rod. Press the drill rod in with the tail stock. Seems to hold just fine.

George, you must have me confused with a different Tom, I have a Sam Yang .25 500cc rifle that I just got a month ago, and have posted about problems with a Career Ultra 9mm in the past. It is shooting just fine now. It was down six months trying to find a linkage screw, finally just had one made for $35. Regards, Tom

Actually yes!! I was a little impatient at first but taking the time to this a few times I've learned through trial and error. I fully expected the stock seal to blow, I was just wondering how long they would last. Took a chance maybe as there maybe is something that can hurt the valve? I don't know, but it was just an experiment.

Both hipac units have the hipac seal in them now and they hold air just fine!

I spoke too soon, my stock seal started leaking today :(
