Well the 2240 once again show,s it versatility. I had a couple of stock barrels kicking around and decided to make use of them. I cut them off and used a rigid brake line to make an arrow gun. The brake line is 1/4 in dia and the inside of the aluminum arrow is 9/32 so I had to add heat shrink to make a better seal for maximum use of the air. The arrows are cut from regular 30 in arrows to 10 inches each. They weigh 60 grams with the arrow heads ground down, and travel at 160 fps avg. Of course my 2240 is fitted with a high pac and I maxed out the transfer port and hammer spring. Not as fast as the FX but great fun for target shooting. I also made one for carbon arrows, which are less than 1/4 inch so I had to hone down the brake line just enough so the arrows slip over.A long process using a drill and sand paper. They weigh 40 grams, but the avg fps is only slightly higher at 165 fps. Aluminum is easier to use and less work to build. I tried longer arrows at first but at 15 inches I only got 110 fps. The heat shrink flights are pricey, but are worth the cost, sooo easy to apply and long lasting.
Total cost, arrows, inserts, heads vanes, and break line was around $75 that,s 9 bolt,s/arrow,s. Double click on the last 2 pics, they are video,s. sorry for the dead time, I don't have a program to edit it out.

That is totally cool, Joe! 8)

Just so I understand - the arrow just slips over the brake line so inside of arrow catches the air like the back end of a pellet once trigger is pulled?

I can sooooo see what my next project is!...

Cheers,
Todd

I forgot to mention that. They were at 12 yd,s. I was shooting at 20 yds with an earlier version but my scope wont adjust enough for the drop, however the accuracy was just as good. The closer the fit at the end of the tube, the more power. But not binding.
Oh and that,s 4 layers of styrofoam and one heavy cardboard box. The spaghetti squash has been drying since last Sept, so it is tough as leather. I could probably take small game with broad head,s. but don't intend to hunt with it.Also too, that forth arrow in the video, is bent from a previous misshap and always veers off.

A question for Bob Sterne if you are reading this. What is the foot pound energy of these arrows 60 grams at 160 fps.

I think it,s 52.6 foot pound,s. If that,s right, my sumatra using 18.1 grain pellet,s at 900 fps get,s only 32.5 foot pound,s.

Yes it,s not bad considering the arrow,s are home made by a true green horn ME. They vary in weight by a few gram,s.
