THink there is some confusion here?

MAR177 which is a PCP conversion for an AR(RESTRICTED) Lower.

Or this? M4 117-1
Which is a multiple PUMP rifle that anyone can buy with a PAL.

why wouldnt Pyramid sell you a PAL rated gun if you had a valid PAL?
or is this a USA/Canada policy?

Recently US air gun suppliers such as Pyramid (arguably the biggest in the US) have been granted the privilege of submitting their products' specifications to Canadian Customs for pre-approval. If their specs match those of CC, and they meet the standards of being non-firearms according to the Firearms Act (primarily less than 500 fps), then they can ship freely to Canada, knowing that the approved guns will reach their customers (perhaps with additional charges such as custom fees, HST, GST, provincial taxes, etc.). American dealers said. "thumbs up," and continue to seek pre-approval as new products come in and older, not-so-popular products are added to the list. In a matter of a few months, Pyramid moved from dozens of approved products to hundreds of them. You can identify these products now by the "Ships to Canada" banner at the top of the description page.

Now that many sites have these assurances from CC, that's what they sell (confidently) to Canadians. Anything rated over 500 fps, including rifles, are not available to us. Pistols over 500fps (restricted weapons in Canada) are automatically off the list, as are rifles (non-restricted devices) over 500 fps, that could be shipped, but require extensive paperwork and intervention by CC to ensure that the gun reaches a properly licensed Canadian. Neither want to go through that hassle, so some sort of peace between the lands has been established" We won't slow down or stop their approved shipments, and they will not hassle CC with exceptions.

This is why you see several US sites now offering shipments to Canada. But they all must go through their own pre-approval process. Air guns approved for Pyramid, are NOT automatically approved for Airgun Depot, for example. Pyramid was on top of it from the get-go. I believe I reported this on other threads on this site as I followed them through the process several months ago.

My understanding ( and I could be wrong here) is that there is some sort of affiliation between Pyramid Air and Airgun Source. I have attempted to purchase a number of items from PA online only to have my order cancelled with a suggestion that I source the required product from AGS as I reside in Canada. :(

Absolutely. Pyramid is the parent. I haven't had that happen to me yet, but I'll look into it with my close friend "what's her name - let me find the email" at Pyramid. Give me a few days.

Could just get one of these https://airgunsource.com/store/index.ph ... 30110&c=43
Still based on the 760, with a improved valve. Has a shorter barrel than the M4-177, and is slightly shorter. I think the SCAR still qualifies as an AR variant.

Found this on another forum:

http://www.canadianairguns.com/showthre ... man-M4-177

"I verified earlier today with the CFC that there was quite a bit of confusion on the M4-177 when it was coming to market- many people within the RCMP wanted to call it "Restricted" and initially it was- then someone decided to do a detailed analysis and it was apparently re-determined to be "non-restricted". Perhaps a bit more consistency would help avoid such confusion for everyone in future." - AirGunEric Jan 15 2013

i recently went target shooting with my M4-177 w/red dot scope(which i intentionally reverse the "clip" to identify it as an airgun), a guy i met up with assumed it was a restricted firearm until i lowered the forestock

I wonder if there's a way to mod the M4-177 to pcp using paintball gun parts

Just found out the RCMP has changed the classification on the over 500fps versions to non-restricted from their previous restricted status as an M16 variant. It's a good day for logic! :D
