I just acquired a new Beeman 1040 series break barrel Canadian edition
1. Should it be taken apart and cleaned re greased etc?
2. Can trigger be purchased or modified to make it easier to pull?
3. What does Beeman do to make the American version shoot at a higher speed?
Thanks

When all else fails, or one of the first things I do...google. Just typing in Beeman 1040 brings up a bunch of pages on mods and maintence.

If you want to improve it, take it apart and make sure it is not filled with metal shavings from the factory. I have worked on three of them. All had spiral machine shards inside the tube.

The spring pressure rides on the sear/trigger so I dont think you can improve it much. Its made from laminated sheet metal stampings.

To bring it to USA/PAL spec, you would likely need a US piston or spring. I dont know what they have changed to de-tune it. If the PAL version has a stronger spring, your trigger will get worse.
Due to the soft sear, I would not increase the spring pressure.

More infor required?
I made a spring compressor, set it up and took gun apart. When I took trigger assembly out the spring seem to stay in what I thought was the de-compressed position. I took out the plastic spring guide, then somehow bumped it and the spring flew accross the room. After cleaning and trying to put back together I had to compress the spring, then jam a small screw driver in against the plastic spring guide to hold it while the trigger assembly was put in place. Pins are put back into the trigger assembly then screw driver pulled out and spring comes back against the assembly?? This does not seem like the correct way to reassemble this rifle? Utube videos talk of a pin to hold spring? What am I missing?
Thanks
Halls
