Hello Air Gunners..

Perhaps I should be asking Crossman..

(But they may just want to sell a whole new rifle) and say no just for that reason..

A Buddy of mine has an older model (Crossman 795) Break Barrel Rifle.
(And it still works great).. other than the rear site being a bit messed up.

This older model does not have the ability to accept a scope..

Would it be possible to "Swap Out" the old model parts..

(What ever they may be.)

With the newer model parts to MOD the gun to accept a scope ??

If so.. Any one know the parts that should be swapped ??

Along with part numbers for these parts to order (and how to get'em)

Thanks

The 795 was my first airgun :D

I was going to suggest getting a gunsmith to machine the dovetails, but then you'd have to drill and tap for a scope stop... price might be too high by that point

If you could swap them out, and I am able to find my old 795, I'd be willing to trade with you.

Keep us updated!

Ohh.. I don't think my buddy would want to trade.. (and like you say), was his first gun also.

He was also thinking of getting someone to machine the dovetail.

I told him I would have the perfect person to do it.. (and I would ask for him)
but he does not like the Idea of sending it out of town.

So at this point things are looking slim for a scope rail on his rifle.

I've shown him many new rifles.. (on line at decent prices).. but he loves his gun.

(Way toooooo Sentimental) :?

I didn't tell him to throw out his gun. (or cheat on his wife) Just get "another" new rifle...

So... Crossing Fingers for (replacing parts) and where to get them.

(A transplant of sorts to save the old girl)

Sorry, should have been clearer!

I meant, if it is possible to swap out that part of the gun, then I will trade that part with your friend. I'm sticking with iron sights on my springers these days, so the dovetails are going to waste.

This is, of course, all contingent on me actually locating the 795  and that part being in good enough condition for your friend to accept (might have minor rust after all this time)

Edit: As far as machining the dovetails, I'm pretty sure your local gunsmith could get it done for about $50 (I know mine can). But remember, you'd need to have a scope stop on it or else that scope will walk its way down the dovetail after each shot (ask me how I know....)

Ahhhh Trading his parts for your parts... Hummm

Never know.. (Will ask.)

Try to find where you left it

Then we can "Compare" notes to what each of us thinks (With photos and such)

Perhaps we can all determine (if they will fit)

But.. (As per rust.. if it has any)... How bad is that rust ???

Is it looking like a light surface "Patina" (not too bad then) ,
or if the metal is Pitted.. ?? (Knowing my buddy.. doubt a trade..)

But he may be desperate. :)

SO.. I'll ask and get back to you.

Thanks

Hey : tricky

Well I asked..

He didn't sound very enthusiastic over the Idea..

Just a Him, and a Haw, then: "Naa.. Not going to bother." was his words..

Oh.. Well. No scope for him then..
------
Thanks (tricky) for this trade offer.

(We tried)
