did a mod this morning, but not on any guns, the basement is a very unused part of my house, not anymore.

from a spare bedroom, i cut out a hole in the closet which gives access to my shop and the full length of the house, it provides a 30 feet shooting range for winter, this will be fun for my M4, and also my 357, being a heated basement, it will be ideal for the C02 it uses

its no long range shooting, but it helps make the cold season go faster...

p.s. i will make trimmings for the hole, dress it up a bit, and possibly a mini door

Very nice. Congrats.
But, be prepared, the chances are great that you will shoot the wall sometime accidently!
Just the same way that most of us have shot the sides of the target boxes and worse our chronis...

thx

its no biggie if i shoot beside the box, its in a cold room and its a concrete wall, its just painted to look like drywall, nothing i can't touch up with paint, but to avoid that, i suppose i could put a sheet of plywood behind

however, the closet wall is not concrete, considering what you just wrote, i may have to come up with something

pellet holes are not exactly considered fashionable

p.s. i already shot my Chrony  .....twice, lucky its just cosmetic

i constructed something to avoid that in the future, its based on what Ace has build for himself, pics to come in another post

Hang a flag on the door to the basement (or lock the door from the basement side) to let everyone know you're down there shooting. (Yes, the noise is obvious, but not if anyone enters the house while you are making adjustments, and the first shot he hears is the one when he's running into your shop to get a screwdriver.

Hi Edmonton<500

should have specified that i live alone, i did put it on that side of the house because i have cats, in this way i can close the doors when i shoot, so no risk of ricochet and hitting them, unless they learn how to open doors :D

Looks great and very useable too. I have an indoor range as well about the same length as yours and into my workshop via a long hallway and thru a doorway into the shop. I have to put up a big yellow shooting in progress sign as a precautionary step, but its no big deal. To protect your wall make up a padded picture frame and hang it over the hole in the wall. As was previously stated stuff happens to the best of us and for the record I too have pellet dents in my chrony x2. Enjoy, it makes the winters shorter for sure.

very cool.
I was going to say you could get a framed picture, hang it on hinges over the shoot through hole and open it when shooting.
I wont see a cat (of 3) for days until I start to shoot then suddenly they are in the crawl space looking back at me......cease fire and chase fur.
I rigged the crawl space light in a string to I can turn on and off from the firing line.
with the bed there you bring a whole new meaning to firing from the prone position....and you can nap between rounds.
i hope you arent like these dudes (warning graphic images)

EDIT....offensive dude in speedo was removed so Ace could get through the day. Rocket man stays.
