I'm sure I posted somewhere that I was going to try the Century C-680 springs and see if they work as replacement hammer springs in the 1377 and 2240, but I can't find where. I wanted to update that and say that they are just a little bit too big in outer diameter to fit into the hammer and end cap spaces. They are also much stiffer than stock springs, but since I haven't been able to try them I don't know if they would clip down or not. Oh well, the search continues...

Why not just hone out the holes in the hammer and cap. That,s what I did when I found a spring that was just right in the tension but too wide. I used a dremmel.

Yes, I may try that. The spring is actually close enough that it fits in the RVA I have on my 2240, so I would only need to do the hammer. I did once try to open out the hammer with a drill, but it was too hard and I didn't make a scratch  A grinding stone on the dremel would be a better bet as you suggest.

The other thing that I've been wondering is whether a spring that fits the ID of the tube would work. I can't think of any immediate reason why it wouldn't, and the tube would act as a spring guide. Might be a problem finding one with a low enough rate, but it would open up some more possibilities.
