I just finished mine adding 3 inches or so and am very pleased with the results. I am going to leave it chrome. I used a plumbers pipe cutter this time and got a square end and it also rounds the end inwards so it seated moved in the counter sink in the wood.
It shoulders much better and I can get better focus balance on the rear sight having it moved away.
I shot this 5 shot group...and am not sure if it is all 5 or if the one about a mile south was from this group or the next one below...I was getting very excited anticipating it was going well and may have just shot the wad on the last round. Still I am please.
10 m off hand open sights.

it a combo of my arms, my eyesight and my bad/trick neck/shoulder combo.
As my friend from the forces who instructs says...measure all the ways you want then set it for what feels comfortable for that gun and you.
let me know if you find the sight and send be an email.
How's 4 legged Ace?

So Ace...when do you sleep man?
And a silly question...what are you doing with your rear sight off the 953?
I would buy it if it fits the dove tails on my new 2240 steel breech.

Murray, I have a stock 953 rear sight you can have. PM me.

Nice mods you guys, I love my 953 and 853. 8)

true everyone has there preference of what feels good for them.
but I was always told that the proper way is holding your arm at a 90 degree angle and the butt stock should sit on the crease of your arm and finger just touching the trigger.
He's good thanks its little Ace's birthday today :D
will email you about the sight.
edit: I see TH beat me to it, I'll leave it up to you

TH,
Thanks for the offer but I think if Ace has found his I will stick with him as I asked him first of course If his dog eats it I will call you!

Ace,
I was also told the measure the way you describe (arm at 90 degrees, measure from pad of trigger finger is trigger position to inside of the 90) and I get a 14 in LOP and the extensions on both my stock take it to 15. I think I need the extra inch due to my wonky neck and eyesight.
Glad little Ace is good and hope he doesn't party too hard!
I will email about the sight.

night

So did any of the mods to this rifle increase the FPS at all? Is there anyone who has successfully increased the FPS on this rifle?

Very nice rifle and mods, Ace, I really love the stippling pattern you made :) .
