I had a chance to get out to the range for about 4 hours today and did some paper punching
Went through a tin of JSBs and got my Webley Alecto pretty dialed in, at least Im happy with it :)
The Phantom is a steeper learning curve but Im willing to put in the time to learn

The Range

The targets
All targets are labeled with pellet type and each group is a group of 10 pellets (except the Phantom one)

Crosman Phantom .22

This was actually my last group of targets for the Alecto for today
Check out that last one on the bottom :)
That flier was one that went about 441 fps compared to the average of 490 so maybe that explains the small drop ;)

Another thing I noticed is that a couple of the groups were shot at 4 pumps and these were the ones that had a larger spread to them
Seems the Alecto fires faster with 4 pumps but loses some accuracy
I chronied most of the groups too and light pellets (Hobby 11.9, actually any pellet but this one more so because its the lightest I have) and 4 pumps are a definite No No
With JSB Exact RS and 3 pumps it averages dead on 490 fps, that's what I hoped for!!

++Added - After checking my numbers it also seems that in each pellet test at 4 pumps, with both the JSB Exact RS and the RWS Hobby, the Extreme Spread was 122 fps and 102 fps respectively
Both pellets each had 1 shot out of 10 that was 25% below the average
The average ES for 3 pumps is average 25 fps with both pellets
Not sure what that means but its even more reason to stick to 3 pumps :)

With the final target dialed in with 9 of 10 shots in the 10 ring and 1 flier using the JSB Exact Rs, The RWS Hobby pellets were hitting about 3 rings to the right

Sounds great Duncan
I bought the wife a kitten this week so I should be in the "good" books for a few weeks
:)
That is until I spend the rest of my tax return on a new gun :)

I picked up some scopes this morning while I was killing some time before my flight. They are the vector brand and seem to have nice optics. I will probably be bringing these out to get some idea of how well they operate. Some have the illuminated mill dots in red or green . To be honest I would need three days there just looking at all the product they have available . Some real nice laser sights and red dots ( or green ) with night vision options. And lots of other goodies.
Cheers

Its a nice spot Ace, its comfortable for about 5 or 6 shooters at a time
Its a little loud on Sundays with the shotgun trap range open right beside it but the airgun range is open 24/7 :)

Not really sure , but i am in Shanghai fairly regularly so meeting up with Steven Shen from Vector is not a problem. I want to pick up some laser sights but I was not sure of the legal power that can be allowed in Canada so I left them until I know the requirements. I will also be picking up some range finders, And I also want to check out a couple of other places north of the Yangzhe river next month and I will probably pick up some more while I am there.
Cheers

A range finder would be handy

I am not sure what the pricing would be on the scopes. I picked them up from the manufacturer.
