I've been busy, and I haven't been shooting at all for the past 4 months with my 953. I went to get it out last night, and the lever had popped open sometime while it was on the shelf.

Any ways, the seals appear to have dried out some in 4 months. I have a leak if I pump the gun slowly. Not as bad when I pump the gun quickly. I relubed the sponge and seal on the plunger, but I think it's the o-ring seal closest to the valve that's leaky. I use the pellgun oil cause that's what I have.

If pumping slowly, I get the biggest leak when I am about 80% through the pumping stroke.

I also sometimes here a leak when the lever is all the way closed, could it be my hot glue gun mod (didn't have useable epoxy) is now misfunctioning and biting me in the butt?

Anyways, a seal kit may be in order, do any of the sponsers sell one at a reasonable price?

Thanks,
Peter

Peter the seal on the piston is just an o-ring I'm not sure what the exact size is but something tells me that's not the problem with your 953.
Did you fill in the piston cup with hot glue?
If so you may have a little loose debrie that found its way into the valve and will not let the valve seat properly you will have to diasimble the gun and clean the valve seat and seal, hope that makes sence and hope that helps.

6 month update. I finally got the 953 out and took it apart. The orange O seal (not the piston one) was delaminating , causing the air leak. Hot glue plug is holding up well.

I flipped the seal over and no audible leakage detected. Emailed a couple vendors but they are OTS on seal parts. I ordered 2 kits from Daisy directly, just waiting for them to arrive.

Flipping the seal over should hold until the new ones arrive.

I guess you don't need these now, but in case anyone else sees this thread, you can buy 116 o-rings on ebay. D90 seem to work well for both the piston and the base:

If you need o-rings, check the local machine shop or hydraulics shop...$6.25US shipped for one buna o-ring is IMO, robbery.

That's for 50 pieces.

Yes, the shipping is a bit of a pain, as are the relatively large minimum quantities. They combine shipping though, so I try to always stock up on a couple of sizes when I order. I've ended up with what's probably a lifetime's supply of most of the sizes I use in my airguns :)

As was mentioned, check your yellow pages for local hydraulics shops... or seal & gasket shops. You can often find o-ring seals for 20 cents to a dollar, depending on size and material. I even found a piston seal for an old Benjamin 312 for $5.00 (pump cup).

Anyone order seals from Daisy in the states? Still haven't received mine yet.
