Are there supposed to be spacers under the breech . The barrel and tube when slid through the barrel bands are 1/8" high.

Thanks Walter. I couldn't remember its been so long since I free floated the barrel. I'm working on Waynes gun. It had barrel bands on it but things dont line up. And the front stock screw bottoms out. I added a washer under the spacer, but he might still want to put the bands back on.

Hey Joe,
Wonder if you could clamp the Barrel bands flat and put the next size drill up from them to let the barrel free float, yet still give the appearance of the barrel bands "holding" the barrel?

I will know.
I like to have barrel bands to help support the barrel during transport.
Joe is very tenacious when tracking down a problem with a rifle. This rifle always shot a pattern like a shotgun and Joe offered to take a look at it and see what he could do. I am looking forward to a tack driver. :D

When i dusmantle mine...
I realised that the barrel band are specifics for rear and front. One is slightly shorter in heights than the other one.
Mine wasnt enline properly until I switch the barrel band in the correct position.

To free float the barrel with the bands still on, you just remove the o ring.

Joe is correct! I sometimes open the inner bore up a little so it has a few more thou of clearance for barrel vibration, but some of mine were really tight and some weren't. As long as you have light completely are the barrel inside the band you are free floating.
