When I release the pressure from my Hatsan pump before dis-connecting the probe from my BT65, a white dust escapes from the valve.
Now my cylinder is leaking from the poppet valve. Possibly because of the dust. I dis-assembled it and the cylinder was also full of that white dust. I cleaned it all but it keep happening.
What is that dust and how do I get rid of it?

Max.

Do not know much about "Hand Pumps" but does it have a inlet Air-Filter?
If not, it would seem to be the "Particles in the Ambient Air".
The pump builds up Moisture (at a High-Temp and Pressure), which mixes with the Air Particles and as
the pump returns to a normal temp and pressure, the moisture is mostly gone and leaves a dusting/powder behind.
Best Guess.

My pump does have an inlet air filter and a fresh packet of desiccant.
In my line of work, I have an endless supply of desiccant so I don't bother "refreshing" it in the oven.
I have the kind that turns purple when exhausted. then I just replace it.
So I doubt the issue is with moisture but maybe it is, I don't know.
It's never happened before though.

I'm just guessing but to you lubricate the pump using silicone grease? I've seen silicone based oring grease crystallize in certain situations of industrial machiney, and I know I lube my hills pump with ' Dow Corning 111' witch is a silicone based oring grease. I've haven't had to rebuilt my pump yet, but it was just one of my many thoughts! I way be out to left field of this but it may lead to something. Lol

It could be the lubricant I guess. I purchased the pump used from a member here. He told me at the time that he had just re-built it.
I trust him and trust that he used the proper lubricant. Other than that, the pump works great.
