I found my old 2240 from about 14 years ago that hadn't been shot in a while, and remembered that it was dumping CO2 the moment I pierced the tip. After looking deep into our archives, I found that this was probably just the seal that the CO2 cartridge fits onto, after being over tightened. Took her apart, and sure enough, that's all I needed. Ordered a seal off eBay over a week ago, so it should be coming sometime soon.

Alright, so I've got all sorts of parts that are on their way. So far, I have a BNM repeater breech, .25 cal 18" barrel, a 21" shroud, a new valve assembly (I destroyed my own by playing around with it too much), and an adjustable hammer spring.

The last part I ordered was the hammer spring from Rick, and of course was by far the first to arrive. Thanks, Rick! Will be applying some bluing to it, to achieve the darker lower part of the gun I'm going for.

Will also be ordering the standard shoulder stock.

The only thing I haven't been able to find online is how many FPS I'll be getting once I put this all together. I will be modifying the angle on the valve port to better smooth out the CO2 flow, but am hoping that not much else will be required to keep my gun in the high 400s lobbing out 20-25 grain .25 pellets.

Also, using that shoulder stock, what would be the best type of scope to throw on there? I do intend to use this for some shorter range small game hunting (rabbits, pest birds), so quick target acquisition is a plus.

Any opinions or experience would be very much appreciated.

Now depending upon your valve modifications you can very easily attain and cross over the 500fps. My opinion, get a chrony prior to playing. A 2240 in the eyes of the law is still a 2240 pistol not a true carbine rifle.

My valve mods were going to be very minor, I don't want to increase the capacity of the valve if I don't have to. I'd rather get more shots out of a CO2 than have a bunch of extra noise and smoke. I also have no intention of breaking 500 FPS, and have access to a chrony.

My question is whether anyone knows about where I can expect to be, velocity wise, basically just with a .25 cal 18" barrel. It'd be nice to be able to plan my parts orders accordingly. I had assumed that I would end up being significantly under 500 FPS after the mod, due to much heavier pellets.

Test with the lightest 25cal pellets on the market. Then work your mods from there. As to your question pending the lightest pellet my est guess 400-430 ish with just an angled port depending upon the angle and funneling that is done.

I am going along the same lines as barfman. Making a non-PAL .25 calibre carbine.

Awesome! I'd love to know what components you're putting in.

Got some good news this AM, received the email from BNM that my parts are on their way! Hopefully it doesn't get caught up at the border for long... Also, just ordered this puppy, which will replace whatever crap scope I put on it at first:

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/3-9X32-C ... 82325.html

Upside is that it's dirt cheap! Downside is that it could take a month to arrive.

Just received my replacement CO2 valve seal ring yesterday, so things are starting to come together. Hopefully I won't need to mod much to get up to 480 FPS or so, after the info from WhiteWolf. I'm thinking to slowly adjust the size of the inside of the valve by cutting off the brass threads until I get close.

Time to get on my order for .25 cal pellets and carbine stock, I suppose.

Buy a tube from a 2260 . Than let the pellets fly as fast as you want. That is if you have a PAL and a shoulder stock. Got mine from scopes and ammo.

That's some GREAT info, thanks Bob!

Looks like it should be quite easy to attain ~495ish FPS with light .25 cal pellets. I bought a tin of lightweight to ensure I stay legal.

Also, just purchased my own chrony. I kept thinking about it, and decided I just "needed" it. Next up, time to build my own machine shop!

That sounds pretty grey area to me, so I'm going to stick with non-PAL. Also, I won't have my PAL for a few months, depending on how backed up it is.

On a more pleasant note, just ordered the stock, some lightweight pellets, and proper 25 grain JSBs. In a week or so, I should have everything I need! Will take pictures and post. Hopefully the beast doesn't look horrific when it arrives. Thinking something like this:

But with an even longer barrel.

OK, so my BNM repeater breech, 21" shroud, and .25 18" barrel just made it through customs!. Ordered those in chrome. I have some JSB 25.4 grain, and some lightweight 20 grain H&Ns for testing. Got my stock. Ordered the 2250 conversion kit from Eric minus stock and barrel, plus a new trigger (mostly for the look, and the BNM barrel band is meant for the 2250). I have another valve assembly on its way, because I messed up my old one.

Bought a Dremel tool (came with a TON of accessories) to properly fix up the valve assembly to avoid future mishaps.

Chrony has arrived, and is ready to go!

3-9X40 Compact Bug Buster in transit, not expected for another 3 weeks. Will have to use a crap scope until then.

Can't wait to start tinkering!

Yeah, I can't wait! I used to work as a mechanical engineer, and have easy access to a machine shop. Really miss tinkering.

Also, just got news that my BNM parts already arrived! I only ordered them 2 weeks ago, and they machined the parts and somehow got them across the border with no extra duty / levies. Gotta say I'm really impressed. Talked to Sergio on the phone, and he was great.

I have time this weekend. Wife is out of town for the week.
Hopefully I will get some time to build this weekend.

Nice! Take photos, if you do. I'm sure all of us would like to see your project.

I couldn't wait for all my parts, so I put together a mock-up. This is the start of what it's going to look like.

Still need to throw on the longer tube, the forearm stock, and my scope. Should look a lot better after all of that!

I'll also need to look at throwing on a rubber butt pad, that stock isn't long enough for me by a chunk. I'm a 6'2" guy, so I'll need to get the gun a bit further out.
