This weekend I plan on doing the trigger and piston mod on my new 953.

So the face of the piston is concave. You are supposed to fill it flush with JB Weld to gain a little more fps. I'm wondering how much clearance remains when the gun is in the cocked position?

If filling in the cup is better, concave to flush, then wouldn't concave to convex, be better, or basically a slight extension? Just thinking out loud. I imagine there would be a point of diminishing returns. Comments?

Printed most of that out already, Did not have the piston pics though, thanks.
Here is a really nice PDF for mods https://umdrive.memphis.edu/ksingltn/pu ... %20PDF.pdf

I have everything I need for the butt extension too, but the jury is still out on if I like it or not...we'll see

I have some information posted in General Airgun Chat under "New Daisy 953 On The Way" regarding purchasing an 853C Barrel and other parts from Daisy.

Jim do not over fill the cup face you will not gain anything from it, if anything you will not be able to close the cocking lever arm due to piston and valve face clearance, and if you try to force it to closed you will damage something.

Did all the mods, just waiting for the JB Weld to set. Will put everything back together tomorrow. I don't get the purpose of shaving that bit off of the trigger. It doesn't look like it contacts anything?

Still haven't made up my mind about the butt extension yet.

Had the JB Weld under the heat lamp all day, so I put everything back together. Went ahead and prepped everything for the butt spacer, just need to go to the hardware store tomorrow and get some longer screws.

Not too crazy about the 3X9 scope. Have to refocus every time I change the zoom. Plus a 3X9 is kind of redundant on a sub 500fps 10m rifle. If it was springer rated I would put it on my Ruger Vortek Blackhawk which has a 4X32 on it now.

I'm thinking about just going with the Avanti front and rear peep sight set up that's mentioned in my "New Daisy 953 on the way" post in General Airgun Chat. Would appreciate any feedback from people with that setup.

Windows picture viewer should allow you to crop, resize and compress your pics.
