This has been done many many times but this is the cheapest and easiest way I found for a 22 multi shot pellet pistol. in a nutshell, it is a modded section of 2240 barrel held into a drilled out barrel housing with a 8-32 grubscrew, pellet clip drilled to appropriate size, spring loaded "nozzle" that rests against the clip was bored on backside only, valve body over bored slightly for volume, valve stem and the 2 small ports opened up (not too much or you'll not be left with much material left and break the stem like I did on one), valve body face wrapped once in teflon tape where pressed into plastic housing for better seal, trigger and hammer surfaces polished and lubed. first few shots in the 430fps range(14.3 chp) then around 400 average for 25-30 shots unless shooting fast. you may not see in the pic but there are two tiny phillips screws recessed to hold the top rail of the barrel on due to the modification, the beauty of it is, you can put near any length standard crosman barrel in and add a fake silencer for more power gains, and a 10 shot rotary is possible. the gun indexes perfectly and is very accurate, so...for those interested here is my recipe for a cheap multi shot .22 pellet pistol in the 400 fps range that was $50 new and a cpl hours of time.

Cheers-Matt

Excellent! Getting 400+ out of a revolver is good going. Did you measure it with just the barrel swap before doing the tuning? It'd be interesting to know how much you gained.

thanks guys!, this is my first day off in a year so im playin a lil bit :), was pretty easy conversion and I could have pushed the limits a lil bit more but wanted it to be reliable. yes I did chrony it before the power mods with the .22 barrel and was around 300-320 fps. so i gained roughly 80 or so fps which brought the speed close to what it was in 177, a longer barrel would likely bring the speed up lots but may be a bit gangly lookin hanging out of the barrel housing. Just for the heck of it i put this .22 barrel assembly on my older crosman 357 which has some more serious valve mods , the first shot on new cart was 463.7 fps, the rest of the mag slightly over 400, then settled around 400, down to 390's after a few more mags. pressure unhinged the barrel assembly twice on the first mag, which was why the latch on barrel assembly belonging to this gun was modified to stay put, lot of pressure on plastic..strangly enough, this gun only shot 490's in 177! Anybody have a 8 inch barrel housing kickin around...?

Cheers-Matt

....So, the Vigilante and the older 357 have interchangeable barrels?....I've been trying to verify this as I would like to put an older 8" assy. on a newer Vigilante... but nobody had a definitive answer.......................
