For $10 it's a pretty good deal if you're looking for an inexpensive pocket knife. I think it's better than the Gerber one they had on for $10 - better locking mechanism and better (thicker) blade with a short serrated section.

That is a good deal! I went to a CT, and they were all sold out, unfortunately. They did have quite a few knives and other interesting things for sale in their hunting section, though. Some were also over 50% off.

Heh, that's for sure. I just bought a Cold Steel Recon 1 folding tanto. This one here:

Man, it's a fantastic knife.

Whoa, that's a crazy discount. The reviews seemed mixed. Does it open easily for you?

It is the closest to an actual switchblade as you can get. Has a really strong spring.

Wow, that's a crazy deal, then! Where did you find that at?

Just picked up a Cold Steel katana / machete here:

http://www.warriorsandwonders.com/

Their prices are actually all better than Amazon! They're located at 12th and Cambie in Vancouver, so you can actually go and see what you're planning to buy, if you're local.

Another great Canadian site, thanks. I use Reliks and Knifezone.ca for most of my purchases. But my local Army surplus is where I find the best deals

I've started finding an interest in pocket folders too, I have a Gerber BG Survival AO which I really like, but I want an AO with a straight blade for daily use as I haven't much use for a partial serration. I have my eye on the Gerber Outrigger Fine Edge, and so far the best place I have found seems to be amazon.ca, around $40. Any suggestions on where else I might find this particular blade?

Might check out that Warriors and Wonders, I have been around that 12th & Cambie area a lot but never noticed that shop!

edit: just checked their address and they are inside one of the little malls which I never enter, no wonder I never saw them!
Might be worth a visit anyway to check out any similar offerings (straight edge drop point, assisted opening) from other makers.

It is a nice little pocket knife... once adjusted.
I had to take mine appart. I wasn't able to open it one handed and it was even harder to disengage the safety. I had to push HARD with my thumb and use the other hand to close the blade.
Once everything was adjusted to my liking it was a nice little knife, especially when you consider the price.

But I treated myself to this puppy:
Still well under a 100$ if you shop for it. Assisted opening, lightweight, solid and that pocket clip hides everything. One of the best I've owned.

Here is a nice assisted Gerber Mini Swagger. They come in a black box and may be hard to spot in the glass case .

Thanks for the suggestions, I ended up with a Buck QuickFire, I am quite happy with it. That's not to say I won't be adding more to the collection!
