Has anybody been successful in removing the front plastic sights on this rifle? It seems the only way to do it would be to heat and destroy the plastic.

If there are no obvious set screws you might try a small piece of wood and a hammer. Tap it lightly.

I wrap some paper around the barrel to protect it, then put a Crescent wrench over the barrel/paper and slide it down to the sight, then hit the wrench with hammer. The plastic sight should (hopefully) pop right off without damage. If not then some more force and the sight may suffer a bit. It may be ugly under there depending on how they designed it, but you can cut the end off if needed or get a muzzle brake. I think brakes are great, both for looks and function.
