I'm thinking of getting into FT and all of my guns are too hot for the 20 FPE limit. I could fairly easily reduce the velocity of my .22 cal AT44 but was wondering if it was a big deal to convert it to .177. I think Dan sells LW barrels but wondering about the complexities of the bolt and transfer port etc.

Maybe add a b51 .177 to your arsenal? Would cost close to the same as a LW bbl and bolt. Just food for thought

Ya, I've been eying those. Good price. But I would want an LW barrel on my FT gun in any case.
Just don't know what else is involved in the conversion.

You would need a complete new upper for the at44 to change it over to 177. have you considered detuning your .22 to get to the 20fpe limit. At 800 fps for a 13.4 gr pellet that would be pretty flat shooting , and with a long tube and 23" LW barrel you'd probably get a very good shot count 60+ Per fill.

I'm liking my setup with the second cylinder: I just change it up, and have one at 35 FPE, the other at 20 FPE in .22. At 20 FPE, even with my shorter cylinder, I'm still getting at least 50 good shots, and it's shooting nice and straight to 60 yards. At 35 FPE, I'm really not anymore accurate on those long shots. I'm going to try tuning that one down to around 30 FPE, and see how that works out.

Thanks. I have a second cylinder as well so I will do as you did and have one hot and one warm.
I guess for the 12fpe FT limit, 177 would be a better option to keep the velocity up.

Don't forget that .177 pellets are more affected by wind than .22.

Good point. And at a 20fpe limit the 22 cal is probably the better choice. But at 12 FPE, the flatter trajectory of the faster 177 would probably be better.

Yeah, I'd agree there. I like .22 at 20 FPE, but 12 FPE wouldn't be as nice with the pellets these Pneumas like. I'd be a chunk under 600 fps at that point.
