Is it ok to just press fit the stem into the delrin of should it be glued ? If you think it should be glued then what type of glue ?

Threading is the best, but a press fit, with some grooves in the stem and a couple of drops of green Loctite will work great....

I've had no problems so far with a press fit of a recycled drill bit into a nylon poppet somewhat similar in proportion to yours. Fairly snug press fit, though not ridiculously hard. In this instance I'd be more concerned about the depth of the reduction in the stem diameter for air flow, as it seems perhaps a bit too delicate. If anything is likely to fail in that poppet I'd expect it to be the stem, bending at its weakest point. But perhaps I'm being overly cautious.

Never even looked at that.... Yes, it's pretty drastic, but whether it lives or dies will depend on the load (pressure times seat area).... I actually saw a pic of a stem that buckled the other day, but it was on a .357, running bore area porting, at 3600 psi.... The stem was 1/8" but pretty long....

ive never had a problem with just press fitting , usually i just drill it out with a very sharp drill in about .2 -.25 ,OD that's about .005-.01'' under size of the stem ., i put a lil oil on it :) . once in it creates a vacuum . i use to make a few rings on the stem and that worked fin as well .
still amazes me how much pressure it will hold and how simple they can be made

I wish I had a lathe. I turned down my stock disco poppet in my drill press to about .105 but went too far down and then I was dumping air every shot. Had to order a new one and wait a week for parts. A lathe would have been very handy.

Press fit only. Drill approx 0.003 to 0.005 under size then press it home.

X 2 and stay under 60% of depth of the overall poppet length. There is sufficient hammer force to either shear your poppet or run your stem thru the Delrin out the other end, Really.

Same here press fit since 1991, never ever had one come out.
Hows it going to come out Op's one has spring for return? Spring with air blast moves the delrin which pushed the steel shaft.

Eg if using 1/8" steel drill hole 3mm that will probably come out 2.9mm. Press in and turn the acetal since it will expand diameter up a tad.

Wouldn't fancy threading such small diameter shafts but have done a few in the past the easy way with a die. Trouble is its never square so valve wont seal, may need to make a few to get a good one. Or machine delrin after screwed on integral.

OP could do with better finish than that.

Shape of valve slow to close.
