The slide stays open after every shot (not just after the last shot) so I have to release the stop in order to fire the next shot. Any ideas why this happens??

If the magazine is out and the slide stays back after racking (it shouldn't), the problem might be that the slide release needs lubing or it might be that the little spring that keeps it down is messed up.

If it only happens when the mag is in place, then there could be a misalignment with the inner tab of the slide release and the mag. The mag has a sliding notch on the left slide that moves with the feeding spring. It should only contact the inner tab of the slide release when there is no bb in the mag. With the slide racked, you can get a glimpse at the contact of the notch on the mag and the slide release, as you insert the mag. Possibly the slide release is bent and is hitting the wrong place on the mag.

There are probably other possibilities. I have heard that just giving the mag a good lube can fix this problem, but I am not sure why it would.
