It seems this project has opened up a selfish/stubborn streak in me that I haven't seen for quite a while. Not necessarily a bad thing- just wondering how healthy though.

Funny how something as simple as a self-made hammer has so much determination and satisfaction attached to it.

I've had plenty of offers of help and parts on this forum. A great place to be with a hobby like this. Much thanks are due all around.

Doc, if you did get a mini lathe, you could keep it in my garage :) no problem there, even give you a key ;)

New hammer is a rarin' success. :mrgreen: Curved strings, and much improved low end velocity.

I ended up making a small brass spacer ring, to protect the threads on the RVA from the hammer spring. Just a slight amount of pre-load.

I'll have more a bit later, on the gun's performance, in the new build thread on the gallery section...
