In light of the concerns about scamming that have been brought to light, I thought that something I recently learned might be helpful. It may be old news to more computer-savvy people than me, but there is a way to find out where many photos that appear on the internet come from. The following works when you use Google Chrome and you see a picture that may be "suspicious," that you believe may have been simply taken off the internet. Right click on the image in question and click on "Search Google for this image". Again, this works in Google Chrome.

You can do the same using any browser; snag a copy of the picture and store it where you can find it easily on your computer. Go to Google Images, click the camera icon (which searches by similar image characteristics), and select the browse option to find the image on your computer. Double click on the image and Google will find all likenesses on the Internet.

When I was uploading pictures for members, unless the person was well-recognized as an active forum member, I always ran the images through Google Images as a first step.

For those who use Firefox like I do, there is a Google Image Search plugin.

Also a lot can be learned about a picture from its "exif" data, which can be viewed by saving the file to your computer and then right clicking the file name in windows explorer, (not Internet explorer), selecting properties from the list then selecting details.
More info here,
