Hi folks,
I couldn't resist trying to shoot Gamo .177cal/4.5mm lead round ball in my Sheridan Cowboy lever action BB gun and although more than 50 lead BB's fired fine, one didn't and is jammed in the barrel.

Does anyone have any experience tearing this type of BB gun apart?
It is probably very similar to a Daisy red Ryder..

I already tried a wooden Dowling to clear the barrel but can only access the muzzle without tearing the gun apart and cannot just push the jammed BB straight thru.

Now I am sure that I need to tear it apart but cannot find any tips online for repairing these types of BB guns.

Try lining up an empty chamber, and push the lead BB back into it thru the barrel. A 1/8" dowel works well...

Just to clarify: from the muzzle end.

A wood Dowling ramrod did push the lead ball back and it fired successfully.
Unfortunately, I had already taken some bolts out and iI think that one of them was anchoring something inside the gun...when Ioriginally removed the two main bolts the one cclosest to the stock slid right out but the one closer to the fore grip was harder to remove and when it did come out there was movement of something inside the guns mechanism.

I think that the mainspring was anchored to that bolt :(

The gun still shoots but not as hard.
I imagine that the mainspring is anchored in a precarious manner, maybe caught on something, and eventually iI will cock the lever and the spring will not engage.

CCuriosity made me take that friggin bolt out, and now Ithink iI need to figure out how to re anchor the mainspring .

The Cowboy gun is very similar to the red Ryder by Daisy.
Does anyone have any experience in putting this type of bBB gun back together, specifically installing and anchoring the spring ?

You can find an exploded view of a Red Rider if you google it.
Red Riders are pretty simple to work on. The hardest part is compressing the main spring to put the pin in.

Thanks "under500fps"

I have learned that I can use two shish kabob skewers to compress the mainspring and will be attempting it today or tomorrow.
