Hey guys, I bought a Beeman 1049 to kill a crow outside my window a couple years ago because it was squaking every morning waking us up. Naturally, as soon as I bought the air rife, it never returned.

Anyway, I got it out of the closet thinking I'd do some shooting and low and behold the fiber optic front site is broken.

Looks like its tough to find a replacement - any ideas?

Is a scope an option?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Mountaineer, and welcome ! Sorry for your front sight, and good luck finding a replacement. Maybe a scope would be a better option; if I'm right, your rifle is a .22 cal. rated at around 450 fps? It should have a dovetail 11 mm rail on the receiver, so there's a huge choice of scopes and rings available, it all depends on your needs and budget. I have a 3-9x32mm on my Beeman 1040, and I love it. It's not too heavy and rather compact, it gets the job well done. If you buy a scope, just make sure it's air gun rated, because the double recoil of break barrel rifles is good for killing regular scopes. Just google ''air gun scopes'' and you'll find some good places in Canada, like D&L Airguns, or Scopes & Ammos for example.

Good luck!

Actually, it does have a dove tail mount on the barrel. I didn't actually notice until you said that despite that fact that I had looked for it. haha.

I'll look around for scopes, I think you are probably right, it's probably my best bet.

Thanks!

You can find replacement sights at your local sporting goods stores.
I often find them sold as shotgun sights.
It's worth a try at least.
