I have a nitro venom which, until recently was scoped, and is a good shooter in .22 since I modified the stock.

It was originally a scoped .177 and I always had consistency trouble with it.

I've recently been putting rear peep sights and adjustable front sights on my guns, so I thought I'd try out the .177 barrel again, and see if I could get it to perform better.

I had the peep sight to extreme right, and the front sight to extreme low (high) right (left) setting to get it to hit anywhere near the centre, so the gun was awkward to hold.

I remembered previously reading this thread, so I came back to it, and followed the directions.

The elevation "bend" worked after two or three tries. It dropped the elevation about 8 or 9 inches at 25 metres.

The windage "bend" took more effort. Finally I took off the stock, clamped a goodly bend on it, and went away and did other stuff for about an hour. It took the bend and shot about 4 to 5 inches farther right, also at 25 metres.

It now shoots really well with the front sight still at right (left)/medium elevation setting, but the rear nearly centred, so it's comfortable to hold.

Strangely it changed its pellet preference from 4.52 to 4.53 to group well.

Who cares? The method worked exactly as described.

Thanks to Frozen Vapours for the thread and Dukemeister for the links.

Peter :D
