Hello everyone. I have been shooting airguns and powder burners since I was barely into my teens back in the 70's. I currently own 3 airguns, a Diana 48, a Crosman Backpacker and a Benjamin Steel Eagle. All are in .22 caliber.
Lately I have been finding my Diana 48 difficult to cock due to some shoulder problems, and it looks like my shoulder won't be getting back to 100% any time soon if ever. That led me to buying the Steel Eagle. While it is much easier to cock I am not happy with the accuracy or the power (495 fps version). I have begun researching a suitable replacement for the Diana, almost certainly a PCP rifle. I will be reading this board and asking for advice as my search goes on. My main requirements are excellent accuracy and fairly low noise levels while having power comparable to the Diana 48. Caliber will be .22 or possibly .25. All advice is welcome.

Welcome aboard! I'll bet within a very short time you'll have enough suggestions to keep you googling for days. Lots of knowledgeable, talented, generous and sharing peeps on the forum regularly, so don't be hesitant to ask away.

Tons of guns to be had that meet your criteria, although quiet is not among the features for PCPs. My sensible rifle is a Hatsan AT44 in .22 cal. My powerhouse is an Air Force Condor in .25. The latter is not even neighbourhood friendly :) Are you looking for a repeater or will a single shot do? And, I assume by your "power" comment that you're looking for a PAL-rated rifle. Perhaps give some hints on budget and other features on your wish list, and I'll bet the recommendations get closer to what you might find really appealing.

Enjoy the forum!

Murray

As an example right now I'm researching the Air Arms SL510 Extra FAC S/L. My priority is excellent accuracy, if I can't expect that out of the box I'm not interested in the rifle. After that I want reasonable noise levels so I can shoot in my backyard without bothering the neighbors who are a couple of hundred yards away. I want a minimum power level in the ballpark of my Diana 48 .22, the rifle will be likely .22 or perhaps .25. Those are my must have features.
After that there are features that I would weigh into my decision but are not deal breakers. Adjustable power, repeater, light weight and high shot count are all features that sound nice but I am not sure how much to value them. Ergonomics matter to me too, since I like a shorter length of pull than that of the average rifle I've tried. Ideally I would hold a number of rifles in a store to evaluate them but I'm a long way from a place like that. An adjustable stock might be the answer.
Budget wise I'm flexible but I expect I can get what I want including a good scope for under $2500.
