What is the toughest brand of pal rated airgun scopes?
Are Leapers specifically designed for double recoil?
What's everyone using on pal rated springers?
.....my centre point 3-9x32 finally gave out after four years and my 4x32 won't cut it at 60 yard targeting.

Hawke seem to be a popular choice and I hear they are good for their warranty if it does break.
As equally important on a big springer, get Sportsmatch UK mounts - NOT Hawke.

I heartily recommend Dampa mounts by Sportsmatch, sp if going on a springer.

You might as well be asking what's the "best" colour. . . . .

Your magnum gun may have a sedate shot cycle, but others guns do not. The double recoil of some magnums, can start shaking loose reticles and erector tubes within a few shots. . . .

It is my understanding, that even the very best scopes can be shaken apart over time on even a well tuned magnum springer.

I guess I would suggest something from a reputable manufacturer, with the longest warranty. Leopold, Bushnell, and Vortex all offer a lifetime warranty IIRC.
Good Luck

Good point....my Centrepoint lasted for many thousands of shots so maybe I just got lucky with THAT scope......I'll look at the ones you mentioned or a Hawke as suggested by DDtank and hope for the best......However....if I cook a $400.00 scope ....its PCP time. :)

Keep in mind some of them are written up specifically as being suitable for springers, Hawke being one of them. Doesn't mean they are top quality (they aren't) or indestructible but okay for $200 or so. As you say, I wouldn't want to spend double that and still have it break. Even if it does though, there's that lifetime warranty so not too much to lose (keep your receipt!).

What kinda budget are you thinking .. ? I think I had posted pics of a couple of Hawke where the turrets (not turret caps) simply came off, broke a few scopes that year including a Bushy. As a result I went through a few brands. One thing I'll mention again: invest in a Dampa mount & you'll save yourself a LOT of hassle, scope warranties or not...I mean unless you are okay with packing, repacking, insuring, waiting around for shipping, etc. etc. with those lovely warranties .. lol They got your $$ collecting interest in the bank, you get the aggravation :)))
In Mr Franklin's words: “The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten” that is not to say inexpensive is unacceptable rather, buy sensibly & you'll be good. Think of it this way, the more you do to mitigate the shock transfer to the scope, the more insurance you have for longevity of the same - regardless of price point of the scope.

As for best air rifle scope, best being subjective; have a look through some Burris scopes (or Leupold, Swarovski, Bushnell Elite series is pretty good too)...light transmission alone is worth it, however it is hard to find one Dual recoil rated or with parallax setting and further, a bit redundant unless shooting well over the average 50 - 75 yrd airgunner range. If you want to know best/highest dualshock rated scope..it may serve you well to look into suitable rings/mounts also. Hope this helps.

The Bushnell sold on the forum store is pretty good. I've had one on an HW-77 for a few years with no problems at all and it's got good eye relief and the optics are bright, clear and undistorted. It doesn't have sidewheel focusing though which you may want if the range you shoot at changes a lot - field target for example. I can second the recommendation of using Sportsmatch mounts too.

Leapers/UTG, HAWKE is what I seen people using those on PAL rated airguns. I know someone with 17 Hawke scopes. If its heavy hitting, like 900 FPS or more. They say to run a 30mm tube.

I have the Nikon Target EFR on my HW80 and really like it. A few hundred shots and it's still holding up against this magnum Springer. Very clear and very adjustable if you wear glasses. Can be found for under $200
