Hi All,
Recently had a customer ask a question about an old Gamo G1200 .177 that will not accept pellets because they appear too big.

I have not yet seen the gun, nor have I ever worked on one, but will next week.
Quick googling suggests it is very ammo specific, as in Gamo match being one of a few that will work?

I will take any suggestions as to what ammo, or if this is a problem that other have experienced.
I did not find it on a search here.

Regards,
Rick

Use wadcutters only. I've had good luck with RWS Meisterkugeln and RWS Hobby.

Thanks Trigger Happy.
I will most likely have the gun this weekend or early next week to try.
I have some rws and other paper punchers on hand.
Apreciate the response.
Regards
Rick

Seems that rws wad cutters work good, domed and hp's seem to cause problems.
Thanks for the advice.

Rick

Mine's best with wadcutters, but works OK with RS exact domes.
2 things to consider: Shorter pellets fit the pellet carrier better. Longer types, like many domes and most pointed, tend to catch when the carrier/feed mechanism retracts from the magazine position to the chamber position.
Secondly, flatheads placed end to end(as they are in the magazine) will separate from the one behind it fairly easily, even with the spring pressure. The heads of domes and pointed will countersink slightly into the pellet ahead of it, and separation is more of an issue.
RWS Meisterkuglns are my favourite, but RWS Hobbys are often easier to find...

Ok, customer was not having any luck so he brought me the gun.
1st off the follower was jammed because a pellet was behind the spring!
Also he was using pointed and domed pellets where the cutout for the pellet was clearly shaped as a wad cutter.
The slide was also slipping past the clips, so it would not cycle the loader completely. see pic.
I shimmed the bracket that grabs the slides, works fine now.
Anyway I had it working with Norica match 7.48 gr. in a 1/2 hour. Chronied at about 490 for the first 40 rounds or so then it starts to drop. Pretty much par for the course for a .177 in C02.
But it was quite accurate.
Not a bad little gun, nice sights too.
I am not a big user of C02, but if I got this one I would keep it.
Any questions please ask :D

Good work!
I've been pretty happy with mine, and I like that the feed mechanism is much like a Crosman 600. Trouble free (for me) and a blast to shoot...
