Yes on the plug-into-outlet type nightlight, and zip ties vs. tape, but you've got the idea. . . . Works a treat. 2x Dollarstore Nightlights, and 2x Dollarstore extension cords = $4-6 light kit. . . .
I hardly use my chrony anywhere other than indoors at the test bench, so portability is less of an issue for me.

I myself place my chrony alpha in a cardboard box and have two cut outs over the sensors that I place LED lights on . Works great and never get any errors .
