What is the best pellet dia for 2240 with 18 in barrel , 5.50, 5.51 or 5.52. I have to order some and can't find anything on diamater, or is it important.

Rifles vary - you will likely have to try them all. One of my rifles absolutely loves JSB Cometa 4.51mm, but refuses to shoot regular JSB Diabolo 4.51mm, which look identical. Go figure, yet ALL of my rifles shoot the Predator pellets into tiny groups - .177, .22 & .25 rifles.

I have searched for info on pellet diamater and can't find much info on it. Is it not that important and do you guys get a certain diamater or just buy what ever it is the right weight.
I use JSB. Got to order some soon and want to get the right ones.
Is there a way to tell by pushing the pellet through the barrel with a wooden dowel.

I have had pellets that would just fall through the barrel and other pellets that would have to be be seated firmly. This varies with different barrels, no way to know except to measure a pellet that you know shoots well.
