Has anyone here tried detuning a .177cal QB78 with the intention of maximizing shot count for 10-20 yard plinking (480-520fps @68F with 8gr pellets)? If so, what was your shot count for a pair of 12 grammers? Apparently a full power QB gets around 50-55 good shots for a pair of 12g powerlets.

Thanks

Though not a .177, I de-tuned my .22 QB78D by using a Crosman 760 rifle hammer spring (direct fit). Got close to 40 good shots with one cartridge. (I use one full and one spent). It's also much easier to cock, and less noisy. HTH.

82-86 per cart; 180ish per pair. Lightened hammer and stuffed valve. Working on another with reduced porting, which should negate valve stuffing. . . .

What are you getting?

Thanks Vagrant... I'm still debating whether to buy a QB but it's sounding better after reading your post. I once had a TAU-7 pistol that was giving me around 75 shots at 475fps (7.3gr) per 12-14g bulk fill. I also had a TAU-200 rifle that gave gobs of shots from a fill. The QB reports always seem to push the power button rather than economy so I thought I would ask some questions before pursing.
