Hi everyone!
I thought I would first present the PPK paint job I did for my brother’s 50th birthday gift. He's a big James Bond fan.
It started with a used nickel slide PPK/S I bought from another forum member. It already had the flush piercing screw installed. I removed the slide and roughly sanded the nickel paint. Not to bare metal just to scuff the clear coat and paint. I did removed all the molded seams while I was at it. Then I applied Tamiya white putty (plastic modeling putty) on the right side engraved warning text. Let dry and sanded smooth.

Then a couple of grey primer coats, wet sanded to 600 grit paper. Followed by three light coats of satin black (rust-oleum fast dry). I put a white dot on the front sight and a red dot on the molded thumb safety. Now the fun part…the 050 James Bond logo

I made a masking template from frisket film (artist tacking film) for the 050 and airbrushed a first coat of satin black. This seals off any potential white paint from bleeding under the edges of the film. Then I applied several coats of Tamiya white paint. Let dry, but not too long, and pull the masking film off. The paint must still be “soft” for clean, crisp edges. The gun logo was hand painted.
Leave alone for a couple of days for the paint to completely cure. I then wet sanded the white paint with 320 grit, then 480, then 600grit to softly blend the white paint ridges and smooth out hand paint bumps.
I sealed off everything by airbrushing two coats of Tamiya semi-gloss clear (X-35).
While the gun was disassembled I also polished any parts that appeared to slide on each other, cleaned the rather gummy grease on the internal parts and lubed with Pelgun oil instead. Overall I felt the PPK was operating more smoothly after that.
I also made him a custom gun case lined with black satin... almost like Q would have done.
