I bought this Benjamin Discovery 22 cal a couple years ago when I first started with air guns.I fun at first but it was only getting maybe 12 to 15 good shots then it would fall off fast. Soon after the 2240 arrived and that has kept me busy for some time then the second 2240 and a chronograph you guys know how it goes. All the time working on the 2240's helped me understand that shot consistency is more important then getting the highest FPS with a low shot count and a rapidly falling velocity.
Last week I dusted off the Disco with plans on selling it. Ah what the heck I'll give it a run on the chronograph.
2000 psi 870 fps then 902 fps then it dropped fast. almost 100 psi per shot.
So I desided to pulled it apart and make a homemade RVA from the stock end cap.
With the RVA completed I put the Disco back together with 1-1/2 coils cut from the hammer spring.
Charged up to 2000 psi.
To my surprise the first shot was nice and quiet. Had a look at the chrono it read
Shot-1 - 560 fps 2000 psi
I know its low but I had some time and pellet so I keep going.
To many shots to list so here is every 10th
shot-10 - 595 fps 1800 psi
shot-20 - 616 fps 1600 psi
shot-30 - 638 fps 1450 psi
shot-40 - 651 fps 1200 psi
shot-50 - 659 fps 1000 psi
shot-60 - 638 fps 800 psi
shot-70 - 600 fps 600 psi
shot-71 - 587 fps
shot-72 - 555 fps
shot-73 - 541 fps
I was very surprised to get this many shots.
If your just plinking and want it to be quiet this is a fun setting. Light on the RVA.

Later in the day on my 3rd attempt I got things set to my liking.
Here are the numbers.

2000 psi fill RVA turned in 1 turn. Crosman 14.3 gr.
773,774,774,711,776,775,795,786,778,718
1650 psi
796,798,795,725,801,736,734,740,814,811
1250 psi
791,738,739,736,741,797,798,796,778,711
950 psi
788,775,763,748,736,734,720,695,678,666
When it dropped below 700 fps the air pressure was 750 psi.

I'm very pleased with this shot string.I think I'll keep it now. :)

Maybe one of you experienced guys on the forum can tell me why every now and again the velocity drops for one shot then its right back up there.

Cheers.
