Hi Tazz, yeah it was really thick on the bottom there, over 1/2" I think but I still am a little concerned myself about it. I think I'll retire that one, as I bought two of them in a pack. I've seen videos on YouTube of others putting pressure gauges in the end, so sort of made a fools assumption that it should be ok. Still, even for a fool like myself I'd feel a lot safer if someone like Gipetto or Bob Sterne did some calculations, or anyone else that knows about safety tolerances on the forum here, to see how safe it really is.
I asked Bob Sterne about the whole project and whether he thought it was safe and he seemed favorable, with the provision that I put things together properly and that he was just giving an opinion. He also mentioned the foster valve as being the weak point in the system.

(just for reference if anyone wants to know, I'm using this bottle no higher than 1200psi, and actually not going above 1100psi in the current setup.) Still dangerous pressures for sure.
