Hey there :)

Does anyone know the purpose of the notch in the rear of the butt stock on the 2289G? Would that be for an insert of some sort, or maybe a storage compartment?

It's the molding design? If we can see the mold to make the stock, we may easily tell what's it for...

Yes I'm guessing it's the moulding design. I looked for infos on the net and found absolutely nothing about it.

I don't think it is designed that way, but I have definitely thought about putting a small, custom compartment there to hold a few things. Extra pellets would go in, but I know the survivalist nerd in me would also have a mylar blanket, magnesium striker, compass and fishing kit in there within minutes.

I think I have seen others build a compartment for that sort of thing.

This is the kind of things I was thinking about :) . That would be an appropriate use of that space IMO.
