What say you folks?

Probably needs a few hours of deburring and replacing anything possible, but for a $28 project, can you really go wrong?

Just expect nothing and be happy with anything, you'll be fine

This is the one I mentioned in your other thread. I'd definitely get it at this price. Great learner for when you decide to open it up to figure out how the insides work. Even if you don't it's a great shooter that has zero twang and hits hard. Lacks windage adjustment though, so if you get one that shoots to the side a bit, either learn to live with the pellets hitting a bit to the side or get a cheap scope for it. Wood is surprisingly nice although the staining is puke-like. This is a lot lighter and a bit shorter than the black one you were inquiring about. I say get it even if you choose a different model. At this price it's a great addition to a collection. And like it or not you will soon be keen on starting one, so might as well start cheap.

Oh and the very first thing you'll want to do is fully clean that barrel. It has a gunky smelly cheap Chinese gun oil that diesels and smells like a son of a bitch. Your whole house will stink after only a couple of shots. And the stuff is nearly impossible to clean, so be prepared to spend some time on it. Same goes for most other cheap Chinese rifles.

Edit: forgot to say that one of the main reasons why I enjoy shooting this thing are the true iron open sights. As someone that greatly dislikes fibre optic sights, I really appreciate the true iron. So even though mine doesn't hit spot-on I still enjoy shooting it. Just because your groups may be a bit off to the site of the bullseye, it doesn't mean it's a bad thing. Many prefer it this way as to not destroy the bullseye during a shooting session. At least you can adjust the sights up and down (elevation). In a day of few rifles being made without them large green blobs, this is a rare treat.

Thanks for the replies about what to look for if I do decide to get this rifle. Thanks to Joolz for the tip about cleaning the barrel and your thoughts on the rifle itself. I have no problem getting something cheap and working with it to make it a little better. It may be an inexpensive way for me to learn how these things work. :)

Looks like a trip to my nearest Princess Auto is in my future.

Looks like I missed out on that deal. The product is now "unavailable".

I will check them closer to the end of the month when I have some more disposable income.

Our Princess Auto online shows 1 left @ that price plus $25 to ship to my BC address. Called the local store with that SKU # 8518425 and he says it is a discontinued product.
So the .177 Pellet Break Barrell Rifle is the closest we're gonna get. At $49 still pretty good price. SKU#8711343.

While we're talking about deals at P. Auto....has anyone purchased their .22 Pellet Break Barrell Rifle? SKU: 8711350 @ $99 just wondering for another plinker for when company comes over.

I wouldn't risk it unless it was on sale for $40 or under. For the same $ delivered to your door you can get this which is 10x the gun with a positive review on reliability topic77472.html

Yeah that .177 break barrel pellet rifle is still a good deal at $49. However I am undecided as to whether I really want a rifle or pellet pistol. I am still thinking about the Crosman 1377 or maybe another similar variable pump pistol/rifle. Sure it's about $100 but it looks simple to use and pump up and from reviews I have seen it is accurate. I also like the fact that you can vary the fps by how many times it's pumped.

To clarify the link above pertains to the $99 Razer (or whatever the PA rifle is called). At the same cost this a no brainer.
You'll soon realize that comparing a rifle to a pistol is like comparing oranges to a brick. They're two completely different categories requiring different sets of skills and return to your enjoyment. Only after trying one of each for a while you'll get the answer as to which you enjoy shooting the most. Or equally. Best thing to do is to buy a cheap model of each then go from there. You can find great used stuff at a fraction of the cost. Try your local kijiji as a starting point. May end up finding a rifle superior to the PA one for less. I've seen Beeman P17 pistols go for $25 in apparently new condition. Now that's the best pistol to get started on as it's far better balanced than a 1377 and just as accurate if not more. Variable pumping isn't what you think, having inconsistent speeds = different POI. Even if you had a variable pump pistol or rifle you'd still be pumping as many times if your goal is to pile up pellets. Change that and your POI is changed.

Many variable pump rifles can be found used for under $40. These would be a far better way to get started than with a springer. Less chance of you losing interest should you struggle to get a springer to hit where you want to, till you put in the miles to learn how adequately use them.

Yes I have checked the used market around here as well and missed out on a Daisy Powerline 880 BB/pellet rifle for $20. However there aren't very many people selling used airguns around here. I would like to add a rifle to my collection BB or pellet though. Next week I will have some cash to spend and will look around more seriously. No sense in shopping when you don't have the money.... If I do find something I like I will definitely ask here for advice. So many cool and knowledgeable folks here. :D

Get one of those M4 M177. I heard they got a rifled barrel and they're the same as the 760. Just in a plastic shell.

Sure hope you are talking about the Nova Vista M4 M177. They are one of the nicest Tactical Rifles I have seen.

I laughed at first and thought you ment the Crosman M177. It can not hit a basketball at 30 feet no matter what you feed them.

CHEERS!

No Crosman. Hence why I said they're the same as the 760 just in a plastic shell.
