Do you think we'll ever see the Umarex Gauntlet sold up here in Canada?
Mostly I like the fact that is regulated for consistently. Can put a 22 pellet down range @ 900fps.
Also a 10-shot repeater and has a adjustable cheek piece.
The price looks reasonable compared to other regulated Air rifles. Image

Maybe, if they took the baffles out for Canada? It would be a great option, especially if we could get them for the same price as the Americans are getting them for! Some places down there are selling them for$242 so with exchange that'd probably be around $300 cdn or so, which is the regular US price for them.

Yes thus this thread... can't remember where I read it..(maybe someone else with way more knowledge could chime in)

If the barrel is moderated at the factory and it not and add on item. It is not classified as a silencer...

But after just reading the Criminal Code for Can. I'm not so sure it will happen. Image

Quote:

"prohibited device" means
(a) any component or part of a weapon, or any accessory for use with a weapon, that is prescribed to be a prohibited device,
(b) a handgun barrel that is equal to or less than 105 mm in length, but does not include any such handgun barrel that is prescribed, where the handgun barrel is for use in international sporting competitions governed by the rules of the International Shooting Union,
(c) a device or contrivance designed or intended to muffle or stop the sound or report of a firearm,
(d) a cartridge magazine that is prescribed to be a prohibited device, or
(e) a replica firearm;

it would be very easy for umarex to replace the barrel entirely to one without a shroud just like the latest fx guns. I have my doubts they will accommodate the Canadian market.

Agreed...We'll just have to wait and see how long this will take.
When it does...I'm sure it will...the Gaunlet should give the Marauder a good run for it's money.
I just wish we had a little more support up here in Canada from Umarex.

Lol, I could have worded my comment differently, what I meant was maybe they'd legally be able keep the shrouded barrel if the baffles were removed, instead of having a skinny looking barrel. I see Dlairgun has a shrouded cometa orion that looks really nice for sale, so some guns must come with the baffles out but shroud intact, into Canada. I did however get this message from the RCMP firearms import officer saying this:

"The body of a silencer is considered the main component of a silencer, and as such, a silencer which has had the baffles and/or internal components removed down to the empty body or tube, the remaining tube or body would then still be viewed as a prohibited device.

Hope this help

Regards

So doesn't sound too hopeful but I'm thinking this only applies to DIY mods, not companies.

I must be missing something then.
The Senior Firearm Technician from the RCMP says if it looks like a silencer although it does not silence. It is prohibited...

Then how can a reputable Canadian company sale these ?
FMA Special Force 14mm CC/CCW Silencer

Wondering if he was talking about a Firearm and not an Air Gun.

Did I just "HighJack" my own thread???? Image

I think you are misunderstanding the usage of the word "viewed". My understanding is, if the shroud was part of a moderator it's still prohibited regardless if it's still functional or not. It's still part of a sound moderator. There are many ags with barrel shrouds available in the Canadian market because those shrouds were never designed or intended to reduce the sound report. Crosman 1077 is a good example. How it looks may play a part when the laws are made but in reality have little relevance when enforcing. What matters is the intended design. Once again in my understanding.

And when we might see it in Canada.

Cons:

Does not reduce the sound output of airsoft guns
Only compatible with weapons that accept 14mm threads

HI:The shroud on the Marauder(CND version) is the same as the US version except that the baffles are removed.
If you follow the logic of that one fellow it's not the baffling material that justifies a silencer its the "tube"?
" the remaining tube or body would then still be viewed as a prohibited device".

My apologies for my part in derailing the thread! Seemed pertinent at the time but sort of slid off track

I was going to say, lots of threads on it on the GTA forum, but I haven't seen any signs of .22 reaching 900fps yet, except for one guy that tore his apart and modded it. He has a YouTube video, but refused to give any of his modifications out. Anyway the 177 gauntlets seem to be shooting in the 900's. Looks like a great gun!

Figured might as well get it from the horses mouth, just sent off an inquiry to Umarex, asking if they plan on selling non baffled gauntlets in Canada. Hopefully someone with some knowledge will respond!
I inquired with Diana about the stormrider and never heard back from them so who knows whether Umarex is any better with customer service, guess we'll find out!
