Nielsen Specialty Ammo.... https://nielsenspecialtyammo.com/collections/22-caliber

High quality, proven swaged bullets for airgun use.... He also casts for the larger calibers, not for .22 yet, AFAIK.... He recently broke the HP pin, another is coming shortly.... hence the $199,999 price on his website.... Nick figured nobody would order at that price, but he had to put some price on the website or he couldn't show the bullets.... This HP pin breakage just happened, and I think he will be back in production in a few days.... Nick is a great guy, contact him to find out what you should for your barrel and use....

If you want to cast your own, NOE and Arsenal both have .22 cal moulds, but most are 0.224" for PB barrels.... but there are some exceptions....

Oh sorry ~ over looked ~ it's bullets not pellets...

If you means the pellets without skirt is a bullet... The only thing come to my mind is Air Venturi... And several websites have these... AGS, replica airguns too...

So nothing looks to be available in an airgun bullet. I suppose the .224 could be resized, but then I would need to find a resized die. Or make one.

What are you up to now Joe? Do keep us posted. :)
I'm not sure if these will work for you, I bought a can and found these to be more like a bullet than a pellet. They might do until you can find something more suitable.
Quite heavy @22.7gr

i found a youtuber that designed his own .22 cal bullets and moulds.Heres a link
.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9WUhZ1CRl0
And got curious. I wanted to try some in my Sumatra, but couldn’t find any. And his moulds are kinda pricey, not to mention all the other gear required to cast bullets. I enquired a while back if anybody had a mould, if they would be willing to sell a few bullets to try, before I took the leap of investing in the casting hobby, but got no response. in the meantime, i have been experimenting with the idea that the hollow cavity in air gun pellets, might be partially responsible for the poor ballistic coefficient, so i have been experimenting with various materials to fill the cavity. I glued BB,s in the skirt to some and others I merely used a dab or polyurethane glue. both seemed successful for some pellets but not all. Unfortunately, the glue did not dry in a uniform shape, so the accuracy was not consistent. the ones with BB,s glued in the tail, had a better BC, but that might have just been due to the added weight. The design of the bullets Mr Kamensek made in his video, does not look too difficult to copy, so i am going to try to make a mould and cast a few simply using a pot and ladle for now.
As for Nielson specialty ammo, I will certainly order some from him to try out. However as for waiting for him to repair his mould ? I'm the type of guy that gets a bug in his ear and have to run with it right away before i'm onto something else. Once im into a project, I have the patience of Job to see it through, however I need to attack the idea ASAP.

They certainly look like they would work, but do they have a hollow skirt ? I cant tell from the picture. I suspect they do.

Hi Joe.

It is possible to make a mold using basic tools (drills) for the cavities. It is better with high end equipment as a CNC mill (first version) but I made another version using only a band saw, drill press, belt sander and files to prove that it could also be done by artisanal methods.

In both cases, the idea is to stack multiple layers to obtain the shape of the bullet.

The resulting .22 cast bullets are around 34 grains.

I want to revisit the idea using again a CNC mill to make a modular mold where only the central parts would be changed for different shapes or sizes keeping the outer body and the handles common for all variations. This would be a project for the Spring.

The 20 pounds Lee furnace to melt lead was not very expensive and was available through Amazon.ca when I bought it in 2016, but it seems that they now only have the 10 pounds.

I tried to attach some pictures of my molds but it doesn’t seem to work.

R-Gun Pete

Looks like I found the first con on my FX Streamline. Shooting airgun bullets is not recommended with a smooth twist barrel.

That lad with the Huben - pretty good accuracy for 71 meters & right around 1,000fps with 34gr., I think he said.
