Just finished installing a Vortek kit in my HW97.

Very easy following some of the youtube vids.

My cocking lever is now a little tighter in the cocked position when returning. It used to be a little looser in the sense that if, when cocked, it was a little easier to move up and down in the neutral position.

Any ideas out there?

I watched one vid of a guy doing a disassemble and you don't actually have to pull the trigger block out.

Now I know for next time.

Fps increase was not substantial, went from 610-615 to 645-650.

Ease if install, very. Worth it, buzz is completely gone, just a nice sharp snap. Note, when compressing the spring into the piston, be very careful to not catch the spring sleeve on the edge of the piston. It must be entered or you will nick it up, maybe even crush it slightly if you do not notice.

I only shot it over the chrony, no scope, no target.

It was very accurate before, I cannot see that doing anything but getting slightly better.

As I stated before, trigger mechanism does not need to come out to do this. Although, when out, you can relube or do a little polishing on certain areas. You can also see how the trigger pack works and have a better understanding.

I was hoping for more power, I think the gun would still be manageable around 750 fps.

I hunt with it.

Had Walter install one in my 98 in about 15 min at an AIRFT meet.

Very crisp. Did a set back trigger blade as well.

I take it your rifle is a .22, Peterdulux.
My HW98 ran 603fps with 19.09gr. H&N's for 15.4fpe and 680fps with 14.3 Crossman HP's(I assume), for 14.8fpe.
The HW97 in .177 which I used for gophers hits 895fps with 7.93gr. Crossman for 14.1fpe and 872fps with JSB 8.2gr. Cometa for 13.8fpe.

It would be nice, if my HW98 improved in speed a bit.

Both guns shoot well with their respective favourite pellets.

I guess I'd better just get at it and put the kit in my 98.

Yes, .22

Nice thing about the HW's shooting at those velocities is that they shoot most pellets very well..

I have some JSB RS 13gr and the are clipping out over 700 fps. RWS hollow points even faster.
