Hey guys,
I've got a crosman 2260 based gun, regulated to about 1000psi, discovery max-flow valve from baker airguns, and stock hammer and spring. Maybe someone can tell me how to stop the hammer bounce because it is really bad. target fps is about 600 with a 18 inch .22 barrel. I'm thinking I need to take some wieght off the hammer? but I'm not sure.

Thanks in advance
Paul

You could make a SSG.

That's true, but I don't have the equipment or knowledge. I would be willing to buy one if someone will make one to fit the AR stock adapter I have. I'm ok with a bit of bounce, but not a big burp of air, it bounced a lot less when I used CO2 carts.

You can greatly reduce the hammer bounce with a high spring tension setup if you can get to those parts on the gun.
Essentially there are two ways to tune: low spring tension, long travel of the hammer or high spring tension, short travel of the hammer.
With the low spring tension the hammer hits the valve and then gets pushed back to the spring and so it goes back and forth several iterations to make it "burp".
With high spring tension the hammer hits the valve but because of the high spring tension it doesn't get sent back to the valve.

The A-Team tuning guide, put together by Ray and Hans Apelles (who helped design the Marauder), goes into detail about doing each of these tunes.

Short version for high spring tension tune:
Increase the spring tension as much as possible and reduce the hammer throw as much as possible and open up the transfer port. Do a chrony and see what your speed is. Chances are it's very low. Start increasing the hammer throw until you get the speed you want. Then start reducing the transfer port until the speed starts to drop and back this out to where it was before speed dropped.
