I've done it with the M4-.177 and 760~ switched bbls.

The 760 is a much more stable platform for pumping than the M-4. Both guns use the same 5 shot harmonica manual magazine for pellets.

I've gotten very good accuracy, and acceptable power from the 760 with the M-4 bbl aboard. Well worth the effort...

Crosman bbls usually ship with a fair amount of preservatives packed into the bore.

Could be a lot of things. I'd try a bore cleaning first.

I have had less than stellar results with the hobbies in pumpers. I'd try something different in the way of pellets before writing off the bbl as a loss.

It may take a bit of shooting to get it to tighten up....

I cleaned the barrel with some patches cut out of blue shop towel and cut to about 3/4"x1.5" in size. Sprayed with wd40.... 1st couple came out black, then clear, then I drew a dry one through...

I've only shot maybe 20 pellets since.... Still not great....

You try other pellets? Maybe crosman wadcutters.

Bent barrels shipped out has happened to me - also to this guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjqD18qF6kM & some more if you Google..I didn't really count how man other's though.
Hope it is not your case...hard to tell from the exterior of the barrel though so have a look through the bore.
For me, Gravel were good at ensuring I got a proper one ... in case you didn't already know: https://store.gravelagency.com/gaen/rep ... osman.html

Hope I was of help.
