I am looking for ways to detune a co2 rifle... Going to start with a weaker or shorter spring....

Or reduce flow at the transfer port with a smaller diameter opening in the port. Both methods can be easily done with stock parts if it's a crosman c/o-2 rifle.

If you go the spring cutting route, be sure to trim the cut end flat. It will save wear on the gun parts, and prevent the spring from rotating under load.

I might try dissassembling the valve and putting some o rings inside, or appropiate tubing in it to make the volume of the valve smaller to give a little less power.

Reducing the hammer strike is the best way to save gas.... with the added benefit that you can (with care and testing) get the gun to self-regulate on CO2 over quite a wide range of temperatures....
