This post is not intended to open political debate, but to show the government that Canadian gun owners do not support further restrictions on our freedoms.

"e-1608
Petition to the House of Commons
Whereas:

Bill C-71, An Act to amend certain Acts and Regulations in relation to firearms, does nothing to tackle firearms violence, but rather adds further red-tape on law abiding firearms owners;
This legislation brings back the useless and ineffective long-gun registry; and
This legislation does not provide the resources to frontline police forces to tackle the true source of firearms violence : gangs and organized criminal enterprises.

We, the undersigned, Residents of Canada, call upon the House of Commons to scrap Bill C-71, An Act to amend certain Acts and Regulations in relation to firearms, and to instead devote greater resources to policing in Canada."

Well, if I were Canadian, I would join in, but I don't think they would care what I think. You Canadians are not the only ones battling this sort of thing...we, down here, are in the midst of it too! :x

New legislation proposals and this petition do affect you as air gunners.
Please take the time to use the link and sign the petition if you are in agreement.

They do if they are PAL rated airguns.

All shooters should stand together whenever new legislation is proposed. The attitude of, I dont care about military rifles, I only shoot shotguns, or I dont care about magazine capacity as I only have a single shot bolt action only divides us as a group and makes it easier to erode our rights.

I hear ya. Despite that, it is an initiative, and it apparently is getting some decent support. IMO, having something to get behind is better than waiting for something to get behind. :|

That's old.

This is about Bill C- 71. Basically its a new registry, and requires parties to call in the CFP and get a ref number in order to purchase a firearm. So where it effects airguns.

Does nothing to fight or solve crime.

It also would give the RCMP the power to reclassify a guns status at their whim. They have abused this in the past.

I never understood that "it doesn't affect me, I don't care, I'm not going to doa thing about it" attitude.
You gotta look at the bigger picture and realise (and I think it's pretty obvious) that it's a very slippery slope and that you're going to be next. Now it's the "military" gun, then all semi-autos, handguns, next it will be the "sniper" rifle... who needs a gun with a scope and next thing you know you'll need a license to buy a RedRyder and slingshots will be prohibited

You can’t buy a single airgun for everything. Golfers use many different clubs, airgunners need more than one gun
