Avianmanor; No getting around the issue "legally".... ;) I'd be curious how yours sounds, but I have a need to be extremely quiet. In live in the other CA, California, where everything is illegal so a silent gun is super important. As one deputy told me once after he popped me shooting a 22LR: "You see those homes over yonder?" (pointin ~ a mile away) Shucks, sure do mister ossifer "If they hear shots they call me, if I get a call I have to come out." hint hint.... Uhh, ok mister sir, I'll be good n quiet frum now on.
W/o the suppressor my Mrod is loud even with the setting way down in the dirt, but then I consider my Beeman P17 too loud and a suppressor is in the works for it.
I made an extended suppressor for my Mrod and now I literally can't tell if the tank is full or dead empty when fired, sound wise that is. So now I have a similar problem as with my 22LR; the hammer needs to be quieted.

Hey Chevota,

I own an Mrod Gen 1 modified for the Canadian market ( moderator removed), and in as much as it’s reputed to be “mouse fart quiet with stock suppression, without a silencer it’s definitely one of the loudest rifles in my collection. You should be able to purchase however a moderated FX state side, which I’m sure would be pretty quiet. Not sure how that would compare to your Moderated Mrod. My “ made for Canada” unmoderated FX Streamline on low power (approximately 600 FPS) is the quietest Airgun I own and still quite useful at that velocity. Typically the noise level of pellets hitting the target is around the same spl as the report from the rifle itself. On high power it’s God awful loud like all the others.

Would be interesting to know other forum member’s experiences with noise level across various makes and models - perhaps worthy of a new thread?

Cheers!

Avianmanor

Now that I bought an elec pump I may buy a nicer pcp, maybe.... I like nice stuff and guns but I also like tinkerin w/ cheapie stuff to make it perform so it's the Mrod for at least a while...
I've often wondered if the valve was different, meaning specifically very volume between the stored are and the pellet so them maybe a very short burst could net you a quieter shot. Clearly more for lower power setting like you have going so I doubt a mfg will bother making one, but it was on my mind. Like my Aguila Colibri ammo for my 22LR, no doubt higher than pcp psi at launch, but such a small charge that it's extremely quiet, like down there with my quietest break barrel that is the quietest springer I've heard.
Too bad they're so tight up there with the suppressors. They're technically a felony where I'm at but they aren't busting anyone so it's a free for all until that day comes....
