Hi folks,

I was going to pick up the Crosman SR .357 BB revolver, but news came to me that the same gun exists in a combo version - it takes both BB and Pellets. Any recommendations?

I also noticed that the Dan Weson 6" revolver also has the same capability....

I'm still on the fence which one to get between the Crosman vs the D.Weson

Thanks

I checked PA's website, and the dual ammo pack just give you another 6 fake shells for the pellet usage (loading from the rear end).

Still the same gun, smooth bore...

So, I vote for buying the BB only version...

Hmm, but the gun can take either BBs or Pellets - correct?

The dual ammo pack is just that they give you the shells to be able to insert the pellets I think then.

Curious why you only recommended the BB only version.

Because it's a smooth bore barrel not a rifled barrel...

Without the rifling, the pellet won't spin, and don't think it can increase much accuracy of the gun...

And for revolver replicas, IMO, using fake shell and pellet is not a good idea as the pellet is not starting its spin at the very beginning ( you don't have the rifled shells, right?)...

You know a pellet not sit well in a rifle will affect the accuracy greatly, so how about the pellet need to fly a distance then fly into the rifled area in another tube?!

Pellet version to me, the advantage is cosmetic... You won't see the rubber shell heads but shiny metal head with a hole in the middle, like a real hollow point bullet so much ~

I have 2 Colt SAA's with rifled bbls in .177 that load the pellet into the case rear.

Both are very accurate. Making the jump from case to forcing cone to rifling doesn't affect accuracy in the least.

I've shot pellets out of smoothbore 760's, and my Remington replica (which is a close cousin to the SR/SNR 357). While not match grade accurate, they are good enough for semi-serious plinking. I can hit soup cans with the Rem at ten paces with cheep crosman pellets.

Try 'em before you knock 'em
