Just starting with PCP. Do you think the Chinese 4500psi tanks on AliExpress are ok? I assume I wouldn't be able to get it filled at a dive shop because it might not have the necessary safety certifications. I'd get the Yong Heng compressor to fill.

Main concern is safety...

What's the general consensus?

CE certified tanks are what is used all over Europe and the rest of the world, other than North America.... AceCare is one of the largest tank manufacturers in the world.... I would not hesitate to purchase and use one of their tanks, and in fact have one, a 500 cc, 300 bar carbon fibre unit.... The quality is first class, IMO....

I believe if you pay extra you can find the same tank with a DOT sticker on it.... That is still not good enough in Canada, it must be DOT approved.... …. I understand there is a process where you can get a CE approved tank approved under the DOT regs, but have not investigated that....

The rumour that "CE" stands for "Chinese Export" is a load of rubbish, spread by Americans who can't stand the competition....

If you get a paintball tank the output won't be high enough. Maybe one of the valve less tanks would be better? You get the rest of your stuff from Ninja or a local place, it should help with the filling of it and if you want to be the safest, have it hydro tested when it gets here.

You can’t buy a single airgun for everything. Golfers use many different clubs, airgunners need more than one gun

I took the plunge and ordered the Yong Heng compressor and 3L AceCare tank with valve and fill station. I was really happy when they arrived. All items were in great shape and look to be good quality. I've already filled the tank to 300bar and it didn't explode ;)

Filling the tank from empty took approximately 4x 10min sessions, with at least 1 hour wait between, if not longer. After the 2nd session, I changed the hydraulic fluid. Good thing too as it was quite dirty already. I'll change it again now that the tank is full for the next time. Fluid is cheap, so might as well do frequent changes while the unit is burning in.

For my setup, I connect the compressor output to a larger oil/water separator, which connects to the fill station on the tank. I only open and close the black valve on the tank to fill and release, the red valve on the fill station doesn't rotate. For the water cooling, I just send the water output down the drain and keep the cold tap running into the bucket to keep the water nice and cold.
