Trying to understand the math.

From a 12 gm CO2 you get between 35-175 shots (depending on the gun) and each cylinder normally costs around $.65 - $1.

A 88/90 gm CO2 gets you between 200-450 shots and cost around $10-$15.

Simple math would say that a 88 gm CO2 should get you about 7 times as many shots as a 12 gm. (i.e. 88/12 = 7.33).

But it doesn't work that way. Why?

Velocity stays the same, as I was told that your velocity per shot will not change if you used a 12 gm with an adaptor in a 88 gm airgun.

And why do 88/90 gm cylinder cost 10-15 times more than 12 gm?

I understand certain airguns are made for 88/90 gm CO2's and others are made for 12 gm. Just don't understand the differences in cost & shots per cylinder. One would think that that 88 = 7.33x12, as a gm is a gram.

I must be missing something here.
