Hi, I am gonna have my PAL in a month (I took the course and passed the exam. handed in the application last week). After I get PAL, I plan to purchase a .22 air rifle. What I am interested in now is Diana 48 .22 cal. But it's really a lot of money, around 600C$. Anybody has some advice on what else to choose? what I concern about is power and accuracy. It has to be .22 cal. around 1000FPS.
Thanks

Hi,
 I bought my Diana Werks for for $350. with a wicked Scope for that amount for a Model #48 in .177 caliber. The .22 caliber would be a better gun for hunting thats all, but now you can get very heavy Pellet Type Bullets in .177 caliber, not cheap either. But the .177 creates alot more power, and with a heavy PileDriver your going to be very close to 960-1,000-(fps) and alot of (fpe). Mine does anyway's...

Mikey...

Edit: I'm sorry, when I bought it, it was used but in minty condition... :)

do you mean with a heavy pellet, a .177 gun provide more power than a .22 one?

How much is your budget? You can get a scoped Quest 800 (.22 cal) for $150 from Specialty Shooting Sports. You could also go with a .22 HW50S for $300 or a .22 HW95 for $400.

Cheers,
Todd

I was also going to mention the quest, powerful, and inexpensive, not a diana but a good gun, also a Hatsan model 60 could be a good choice, same power as quest, also same price but a little better built gun, not sure where you could find a full power one though.

budget is also what I concern about, I used to keep eyes on Quest 800. but in airgun review centre, it looks like quest doesn't have as good reputation as many other gun. my budget is no more than 400C$ (tax included), I might get a diana 48 if I can't find anyone good enough then.

Try a Diana 34 Panther for $280 at SSS. The regular Diana 34 seems to be sold out right now.

or

Weihrauch HW50S for $302 at SSS.

or

Quest 800X for $150 at SSS.

None of the above will shoot a .22 at 1000fps but you won't get that for $400 (tax in). Try rimfire for that need.

I have the Quest 1000X and it's not bad for the price. Nice feel to the stock, decent power, low price. It's not a Diana or HW but it shoots fine.

Cheers,
Todd

thanks for all your replies,
TCooper, I also did check in the review centre for Quest 1000 and Quest 800. It looks like 800 has a better reputation than 1000, In accuracy and power. And also Crosman phantom is basicly the same as Quest 1000, it also has a much better feedback than 1000. I'd like to know what do you feel like your Quest 1000? Quest 1000,800,phantom are all among what I am considering seriously.

I like my Quest, especially after installing the MicroGTX trigger screw. The Quest has a comfortable wooden stock with nice contours, good balance, 5.9 lb weight. Parts are cheap from Crosman. I ordered a spare spring, piston seal and breech seal and the total price, including shipping, was only $25Cdn.

Cheers,
Todd
